Programs & Services
Northern Nevada Veterans Resource Center (NNVRC), the first site established by the Veterans Resource Centers of America outside the state of California, opened its doors on October 1, 2012.
Our main office provides low income & extremely low income veterans and their family members case management and assistance in getting other public benefits, as well as, temporary financial assistance for rent payments, utility payments, security deposits and moving costs. This assistance is available through two programs: The Department of Veterans Affairs, Supportive Services for Veterans and Families (SSVF) grant, as well as, the Nevada Housing Division’s Low Income Tax Credit Program (LIHTF). Both grants focuses on homelessness prevention and rapid re-housing.
Our site is also partnered with Washoe County to operate a Veteran Service Officers program. This program provides two Veteran Service Officers (VSO) to be permanently assigned to the site and assist Veterans in applying and obtaining VA benefits.
NNVRC operates, off site, a Behavioral Health Center (BHC). Our BHC is a 24-bed residential program providing substance abuse and mental health treatment to homeless veterans. This is a 90-day program that includes evidence based, dual-diagnosis treatment curricula such as Relapse Prevention and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy for PTSD. Case management and AOD group process are also an integral part of our services.
